ANIMATION DOMINATION: DREAMWORKS THE EXHIBITION

I’d heard mixed reviews about ACMI’s latest exhibition but as soon as I stepped foot into the foyer and was greeted by a giant Melman I was in my element.

Celebrating 20 years of DreamWorks animation, the exhibit brings together over 400 items from its films including Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Antz and some which are yet to be released! There are character design sketches (Po’s were my favourite), models, interviews and much more – you can even ride on the back of Toothless over the Viking village of Berk.

A highlight of the exhibit for me was looking at the character development boards and design sketches and listening to the production/animation designers speak about the films. They reveal a few secrets so it’s worth sticking around to watch the clips!
