ON TOP OF LOOP: LOOP ROOFTOP BAR

I love Melbourne in the autumn.

Boots, scarves and jackets are pulled out of closets as the days start to get a little cooler but with the odd day hot enough to remind you of summer.

As for where to enjoy the last of these warm days and nights, you can’t really go wrong at Loop Rooftop Bar, the latest addition to Loop Project Space and Bar.

Loop runs a gallery space below with an innovative program that supports emerging artists, film makers and performers. You can view their program and upcoming events here. There’s also Loop Bar on the ground floor but if you’re here for the view you need to head upstairs.

It’s a long staircase to get to the garden themed roof but you’ll have earnt your cocktails by the time you reach the bar and the unique menu is worth climbing for.

Featuring hard ice teas (don’t tackle the stairs straight after one of these), spirit laced snow cones and a list of cocktails that had us umming and aahhing for a good few minutes.

The Apricot & Walnut Spritz was my choice of the night (a delicious mix of Moores Hill blanc de blanc, apricot, Aperol, black walnut, lemon and gomme) and went down an absolute treat.

If the weather does turn a little foul, Loop have a retractable roof and heaters to keep you warm and dry.

But don’t wait until winter hits to visit. With panoramic views of the city, a laid back garden setting and a delectable cocktail menu it’s best enjoyed when it’s warm.
